چکیده

An edge-weighted graph G = (V,E) is called stable if the value of a maximum-weight matching equals the value of a maximum-weight fractional matching. Stable graphs play an important role in some interesting game theory problems, such as network bargaining games and cooperative matching games, because they characterize instances which admit stable outcomes. Motivated by this, in the last few years many researchers have investigated the algorithmic problem of turning a given graph into a stable one, via edgeand vertex-removal operations. However, all the algorithmic results developed in the literature so far only hold for unweighted instances, i.e., assuming unit weights on the edges of G. We give the first polynomial-time algorithm to find a minimum cardinality subset of vertices whose removal from G yields a stable graph, for any weighted graph G. The algorithm is combinatorial and exploits new structural properties of basic fractional matchings, which may be of independent interest. In contrast, we show that the problem of finding a minimum cardinality subset of edges whose removal from a weighted graph G yields a stable graph, does not admit any constant-factor approximation algorithm, unless P = NP . In this setting, we develop an O(∆)-approximation algorithm for the problem, where ∆ is the maximum degree of a node in G.

AUTOMORPHISM GROUPS OF SOME NON-TRANSITIVE GRAPHS

An Euclidean graph associated with a molecule is defined by a weighted graph with adjacency matrix M = [dij], where for ij, dij is the Euclidean distance between the nuclei i and j. In this matrix dii can be taken as zero if all the nuclei are equivalent. Otherwise, one may introduce different weights for distinct nuclei. Balaban introduced some monster graphs and then Randic computed complexit...

A New Concept on Pi Design for Time Delay Systems: Weighted Geometrical Center

In this paper, a new concept on PI design for time delay systems is introduced. The concept is weighted geometrical center of the stabilizing controller parameters region. Calculating of the stabilizing control parameters region is based on plotting the stability boundary locus in the (kp, ki) plane and then computing stabilizing values of the parameters of a PI controller. The weighted geometr...

Thermal Convection in a (Kuvshiniski-type) Viscoelastic Rotating Fluid in the Presence of Magnetic Field through Porous Medium (TECHNICAL NOTE)

The effect of magnetic field on an incompressible (Kuvshiniski-Type) viscoelastic rotating fluid heated from below in porous medium is considered. For the case of stationary convection, magnetic field and medium permeability have both stabilizing and destabilizing effect on the thermal convection under some conditions whereas rotation has a stabilizing effect on the thermal convection. In the...

On Symmetry of Some Nano Structures

It is necessary to generate the automorphism group of a chemical graph in computer-aided structure elucidation. Loosely-Stabilizing Leader Election on Arbitrary Graphs in Population Protocols Without Identifiers nor Random Numbers

In the population protocol model Angluin et al. proposed in 2004, there exists no self-stabilizing leader election protocol for complete graphs, arbitrary graphs, trees, lines, degree-bounded graphs and so on unless the protocol knows the exact number of nodes. To circumvent the impossibility, we introduced the concept of loose-stabilization in 2009, which relaxes the closure requirement of sel...
